Why OCI is best from AWS in terms of cost saving module

Estimating the true cost in cloud computing is not so easy, sometimes annoying.

So many components like CPUs, memory, storage, and network bandwidth that need to be consider for proposed workload for which we required to estimate the Cost in the cloud.

But Data is an important part in the billing and for getting Data into the Cloud is usually free but getting data out is a completely different story, cloud vendors charge for data egress (Data Out).

So through Oracle Cloud Workload Cost Estimator we can access and do the comparison in between Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and Amazon Web Services.

Result will blow our mind!!!

Pricing can be calculated for computing and storage with IOPS (data input/output per second), and data spread out of the cloud. Data egress is often a crazy thing as cloud vendors charge a mark-up after a given amount of data streams out.

Like in AWS once we knocked that wonderful monthly number — 1 GB for data egress pricing kick in. At Oracle, the meter does not start running until after 10,000 times more data egress — or 10 TB — per month.

Additionally, the unit price for extra data is much lower than that charged by AWS in the Pacific Northwest.

If company is in OTT platforms (media service is a streaming media service offered directly to viewers via the Internet) out to thousands of users every day, your media transmission gets reasonably high-priced quite rapidly.

Consider 8x8, the media streaming company, as an example. In COVID-19 pandemic remote working increased and due to this data egress usage quickly exceeded 1.5 PBs of outbound data per day.

With the help of Oracle Cloud Workload Estimator, data egress of 1.5 PB (1,500 TB) would cost just over $80,000 using AWS ($80,691) compared to almost $13,000 ($12,969) on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

If we are using high IOPS in block storage, then in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure we can save 95–97%.
